CHARLIE PROBUS | Playwright, Director

Charlie (they/them) is a playwright and multi-hyphenate artist. Their first play, Brothers in Arms, premiered at the Raleigh Fringe Festival in 2024. Their second play, Guilty Pleasure, was first performed as a reading at the Valdez Theatre Festival in Alaska in 2025, then as a staged reading at the Arts Club of Washington where it won the Austin Hays One Act Playwriting Award. An audio play version of Guilty Pleasure was produced by the Cary Playwrights Forum in October 2025 and a full production premiered in January of 2026 at Shadowbox Studio in Durham, NC. Guilty Pleasure was published by 1319 Press in August 2026.

Their plays have also been recognized by the Be Bold NYC Short Play Festival in New York, QuickScripts at NC State University Theatre in Raleigh, NC, and the Midwest Dramatists Center in Kansas. They were selected for the 2026 New Voices Program at Raleigh Little Theatre and an Emerging Artist Grant from the Durham Arts Council. Charlie’s poetry has appeared in Rat’s Ass Review, Phonebook Lit Mag, Opal Age, and onstage at Brooklyn Poets.

GABRIELLE BONI | Actor (Sarah)

Gabrielle Boni was a child actor, now she is an adult social worker who acts whenever she gets the chance. She is thrilled to be a part of Promised Land!

JACOB WEST | Actor (Stranger)

Jacob West is a twenty-three year old actor. PromisedLand marks his first performance with the Durham Theatre Workshop and he’d like to thank viewers like you for making it possible.

MATTHEW DELANEY | Actor (Mr. Horton)

Matthew Delaney (Mr. Horton) is a Raleigh native and multidisciplinary theatre artist. Recent stage credits include Hairspray (Raleigh Little Theatre), The Mystery of Irma Vep (TheatreFest / NC State), and Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Firebox Theatre Company). Beyond performance, Matthew works across the Triangle as a voiceover artist, producer, and marketing strategist, currently co-producing Firebox Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Little Women.
